Coach Recommends

Not sure what equipment to get for swimming training?

Coach Beth Ross has laid down the following recommendations as to what equipment it would be best to have in training. Please note that these are not requirements to have, meerly allowing you to make the best decisions should you choose to buy equipment to use in your training.

Please note the images selected are merely examples to give you an idea of suitable equipment.

Fins/Flippers

Win Turbo

The most appropriate type of fins are the long fins. These are better than the short fins as they allow more control over your technique.

The short fins are only suitable for the strongest of swimmers. Please speak to Beth if you are unsure.

Snorkels

Finis Senior

Finis Junior

The recommended snorkels are the Finis snorkels which come in two sizes - Junior and Senior

The size is important and most swimmers will be better off with the senior (blue) snorkel as it will last them throughout their swimming lives. The junior snorkel is smaller and may be suitable for younger swimmers as it will fit better.

The following rules can used as a guide:

Ages 10+ years - Blue
Ages 8-12 years - Yellow
(ages 10-12 will have to try out the snorkels to see which fits best)

Paddles

Speedo Tech Paddles

Speedo Tech

Win Aqua Paddles

Win Aqua

Beth recommends the full-hand, curved type that maximise the feel of the water. Get the appropriate size for the swimmer which should be only slightly bigger than the hand.
